The Playsuit!

There are certain items of clothing that are considered classic but not in the traditional meaning of the word. Rather, they are things which are essential and which we turn to every season for reasons of both practicality and style. In recent years the playsuit or jumpsuit  has become one such addition to our wardrobe in the hot months. They are perfect for holidays , weekend getaways , summer evenings or just to pull over your bikini.
One of my recent buys is this lovely red jumpsuit with black embroidery. It isn't a colour I would normally go for but it caught my attention and I thought that it would be a nice change that would perhaps pay off. I have to admit that when I received it I wasn't very impressed ( as is normally the case with me) , however , once it was ironed and I tried it on I was completely sold on it. The colour is beautiful and the fabric has a floaty feel about it which is perfectly complemented by the  black embroidery that elongates the body and frames the figure.
I brought a size medium and it fits well ( I am a uk8/us4) and it has adjustable straps. I have a short torso, but if you are longer in the body I would advise sizing up. It is quite short but the pretty pattern keeps it swet and stylish and the it isn't very low cut at the top so there is a nice balance.

The off the shoulder stripe dress

Hello, I want to share my new obsession with you which is the off the shoulder dress. There are loads about on the high street at the moment and at loads of different price points to suit any budget.I really like the loose fitting versions as they are so comfortable and can be worn everywhere from the office to over a bikini depending on how you style them. Today I am wearing and off the shoulder stripe dress with embroidered detailing by Zaful It actually comes with a matching belt but I prefer it loose. The fabric is a lovely cotton, quite shirt like and I can honestly say it one of the comfiest dresses I have worn. The colour is nice and fresh and it has a crisp preppy look thanks to the stripes and the length is easy to wear. I also like the embroidery which gives it a bit of character and is right on trend.

I also have my eye on this gorgeous white ruffle dress which is perfect for high Summer August!

New in wishlist!

The best of the sales has probably long been shopped and the new season items are already making their way into the stores. How exciting!!Too soon to wear it though? Well some things for sure are not yet appropriate although keep an eye out for things that will quickly sell out and are key items for your A/W wardrobe.I find that stores such as Zara for example, bring out amazing pieces right about now and I always make the mistake of telling myself I will get it later, and then of course by the time I get round to it , it has sold out.
so today I am making a wish list of items that are new season but can be worn now. Also they will see you into the new season and cover the chasm that is transitional dressing ( hat that term!).

Coggles Kenzo Espadrilles here

These shoes are a great choice as they will fit perfectly with current items you are wearing and will also be a statement item for your outfits , because let's face it, who doesn't love Kenzo!

The number of ways to wear this dress! You can wear it over your bikini, undone , roll up the sleeves and add a straw hat for balmy summer evenings, add white trainers for city outings and come colder weather , roll down the sleeves, add some boots  ( preferably extra long ones) and a chunky cardigan .

Whistles Ellen Shirt here

For me this is a must have and I will definitely wear it as a staple item at the moment with white short or thrown on casually over swimwear.

New Look Pink Suedette Biker Jacket here

This jacket is a life saver . Suede is big next season and this jacket will look perfect over summer outfits and you will live in it next season . Also it is such a great price and looks expensive due to the slick cut and blush pink colour which always looks elegant and pricey.Needless to say it is already in my shopping bag!

Reiss Marina Suede skirt here

The suede skirt is an investment , but one that will definitely work hard for you.Wear it with a white tee now or a pretty bardot top and elevate it with over the knee boots and and a cape coat next season.

Top Shop Cold Shoulder Blazer Dress  here

I am in love with this dress and it looks very designer. The neutral colour means that it can be worn all year round and the detailing will steal the show, get ready for lots of compliments in this one.

Zaful Floral shirt here

Shirts are great all year round items and this one will look gorgeous with rolled up sleeves and high waisted shorts or jeans. For the new season team it with a pencil skirt for a pretty feminine look. Plus at under $15 dollars it is definitely a wise investment.

So lets get shopping and inject some newness into our wardrobes!

The Green Bikini

We are now in the heart of Summer and a green bikini is actually the perfect way to set of your tan.
You can go for a tropical vibrant print or a minimalist khaki, olive version which in my opinion is always very flattering and looks sophisticated in the same way black and white does.

Zaful  Green Bikini    buy here

I love the print on this green bikini as it is vibrant but in a toned down way and I especially like the cut of the top . After all the lacing, cut outs , straps etc, it is nice to have a simple silhouette and this particular one is comfortable but quite supportive.

This set is the perfect bikini for a minimalist look that also is super sexy and will stand out it in it's own unique way.The cheeky bottoms make this green bikini anything but boring!!

Another item I have been looking lately which I feel my wardrobe is lacking in is a black crop top. I have lots of white lacy and embroidered ones but I wanted one in black as well and I am happy to say I have hit on the perfect top for Summer evenings!!

What can I say, I think I will get so much wear out of it and I adore the flared bottom that is very pretty and will look great with just about everything.

If you liked any of the above items check out the Zaful site for many more options that will surely cover all your wardrobe needs!

Five dresses that will see you through the Summer season

Dresses are an essential part of my Summer wardrobe as I find them easier to wear when the temperature rises. The disadvantage with dresses is that sometimes you feel like you can't wear them many times because they will get recognised. My best friend and I , actually used to keep a diary of what we wore . Seperates can be mixed and matched to make various outfits but a dress , seemingly doesn't offer that flexibility. I find, however, that investing in a few types of dresses , and using accessories to change it up works great , the key being not choosing frocks that are too over the top , that way you also won't get bored of them.
I have narrowed it down to five types of dresses which are  the core of my  wardrobe and cover my needs for all occasions, including holiday wardrobe  of course!

1.The White Dress
Like the black dress its white counterpart is a vital component of any Summer wardrobe. I like pretty cotton numbers that will not date and by investing in a new one each year you will have a nice little collection that always look great for any occasion. The great thing is that you can add colour with accessories although personally I tend to stick to natural tones or even all white for the rest of my outfit.

2.The Plaid Dress

Plaid, or gingham as it is otherwise referred to is one of my favourite prints. It is fun and fresh and looks great on a crisp cotton dress. This is more of a daytime option but you could wear it for a relaxed  evening by the sea or a garden party.

3.The Midi Dress

I generally favour shorter lengths, but lately I am finding them a bit restrictive and I am pleased to say I have discovered the joys of the midi dress.Maxi dresses are not really my cup of tea although I do like them on other people. I feel like they swamp me and I do like a bit of leg to show. The midi dress is very flattering in the sense that the focus are on feminine ankles and lovely shoes.

4.The Stripe Dress
There is not much to say about stripes as they are the perfect summer print, whether you find yourself on a tropical destination or even for days in the  city, the classy clean effect of a stripe is undeniable. Navy and white are my choice but you can experiment with different combinations.

5.The Trend Dress

The previous dresses will see you through many a Summers as they have timeless appeal. However, as a fashion forward woman , a trend focused dress is also necessary every season. You may not get as much wear out of it as the others as you will probably not want to wear it for more than one season, but you feel excited about it and that is just as important! This year invest in off the shoulder, ruffles and embroidery.
Make it as  much fun as you like although my advice is not to invest too much in the trend dress for obvious reasons!

The Floral Bikini Set

We all know that floral is a major trend this season, so what better way to adopt the trend than a beautiful floral bikini set .I have already bought a blue bikini which is a staple colour for me every Summer as well as a white one as they seem like the perfect colours for Greece especially the islands.
So I have turned my eye to a floral number which is novel for me as I normally don't opt for prints. However, after spotting some girls in floral bikinis it got me thinking that it would be quite nice to make a break from my normal staples. Also my misconceptions of them being a bit childish or mumsy, were quickly dispelled when I saw the great cuts that are super sophisticated .

This is one of my favourites as it has a retro feel and the cut is very flattering and on trend. Also at just over $20 dollars it is definitely value for money and is a swimsuit set that I think would certainly get plenty of wear. Just add a big straw hat  some black sunglasses and a cocktail....

The print on this bikini is so dainty and the colour combination is great .This is a bikini for the more trend driven girl as it literally covers everything..off the shoulder, lace up, brazilian bottoms....and at under $15  it is too good to be true.

I mentioned earlier the blue bikini  and I could not finish this post without sharing some styles that I like. For me blue is a go to colours for just about everything and in the Summer I like lighter shades that are happy but also have a clean fresh feel about them, so swimwear is no exception!

I have had my eye on this one for a while and I am finally ordering it.It takes me a while to build up my confidence, so I usually start the season with more basic pieces that I bore off and then look for something more exciting. The colour is perfect as is the plunging neckline and high waisted briefs and again at under $20 it is a real bargain . I find that I like to spend more on my basic swimwear and save on swimwear that is more exciting and impressive but which i will probably not get as much wear out of. So this kind of price point is ideal as it means I can get a few show off pieces without breaking the bank.

So, this is where I  sign off . I am off to the beach as it is really hot again!!
Have great day everyone!
