The Faux Fur Coat

I remember buying a faux fur jacket when I was at university from Primark and I got it to wear to a new years eve glamorous party over my silky Coast strapless dress and I'm pretty sure I wore long gloves as well! The point is that it was for a special occasion and I don't think I ever wore it again as it was considered too over the top for normal wear. How things have change! The Faux Fur jacket has become a wardrobe staple the last few seasons and I absolutely love them and wear them with pretty much everything. This season in particular is so much fun , because you can really play around with colour and shape which is great as most of the time in Winter the focus is on your outerwear. The one I am wearing here is from Pull and Bear but I have also included some of my other favourites. This jacket is in the colour of the season, burgundy or oxblood as some call it and I really was drawn to the cropped shape of it. Needless to say it is so warm and snugly I never want to take it off!

Stay warm and pretty

Nothing says fall quite like nice knitwear and ZAFUL has the most beautiful and affordable selection. I was a bit spoilt for choice as far as colours and design are concerned as the they are so many to choose from. Also I must confess, I was a bit apprehensive as with knitwear the feel of the fabric is very important and obviously is is difficult to gauge when browsing online. I opted for the one of the colours of the season, blush pink, which is with  unusual for me and I have to say I was very pleased when it arrived. The colour is just like in the picture and the sweater itself is very soft and warm and the perfect length for trying the tucked in look. Also it has an oversized feel about it without swamping me , which is usually the case as I am quite small in the shoulders and I have difficulty with oversized styles. There is also a nice criss cross detail to the back which adds a fashion element to it. I love it so much I have already ordered a oxblood and grey one.

Winter warmers!

While we are all thinking about our fall wardrobes and chunky knits , it's important to still feel feminine and luxurious . Also the festive season is quickly creeping up on us so we really need to start thinking about sophisticated looks . For me. in the winter months I like to invest is beautiful underwear . There is something so nice when you know you are wearing a really special item even though nobody can see it, or you can have it seductively peeking out of a a top or shirt. I recently discover a great  retailer Yoins and they really do have a wonderful selection of all the latest sexy womens lingerie online  at surprisingly low prices.

This is so beautiful and the lace peeking out of a v-neck or a shirt will really add a new dimension to your outfit!I like the white one under grey and the black one under black.

So to go with these lovely undies there are also so gorgeous sexy tops for women online  and I especially like the wrap around knitwear.

This top is so gorgeous and can even be worn in the evening if teamed with some nice accessories for a rich luxurious look.

An off the shoulder knit is another way to look sexy and seductive without revealing too much. I also think that this is an item that can take you from day to night with ease.

Sometimes all you need is the basics!

It is a great season in my opinion for fashion. The trends are very creative and allow for lots of personality and originality to shine through. Embellishment is having it's moment and no detail has been overlooked. However, we must not forget the basics. Basics are like an old faithful friend that will be there for you year after year. Trends are your party friends...and we all know what happens to them when the party is over. I think basics are different for everyone depending on your lifestyle. I don't have to dress up for work so I am quite casual and I like to be comfortable and not have to worry too much about things getting ruined. I also like to sit on the floor and walk as much as possible. So for me basics are good thick ponte  leggings and comfy thin knits that I can layer and of course a nice pair of trainers. I also love cardigan coats and big bags because I literally shove everything in there! Finally checks and stripes are a staple for me regardless of trends.
These are the items that will see me through the season and I will use to build my looks on.

Zaful Wishlist, amazing new fall shorts!

So you have probably guessed I've got a bit of a thing for shorts and I actually think black shorts like the ones in my Zaful wish list are perfect for the new trend of shorter lengths if like me you are a bit apprehensive of mini skirts with bare legs. They are achieve the same look but you don't need to worry about the whole world seeing your underwear!
I suggest choosing a pair that is quite tailored and teaming it with a shirt for a more seasonal appropriate look. Look for new season trends such as ruffles and embroidery to make sure your look is on point, you need to make sure that the shorts make the outfit autumnal , not leftovers of your summer wardrobe.

I actually have these in pink , you check them out here and I actually love them. The embroidery is stunning and the fabric is quite thick, certainly too thick for Summer shorts. They also look like a skirt from the front and the waist detailing is stunning!

The Perfect Skort for Autumn

September is here  and it is time to rethink our wardrobes. If like me you live in a country that is hot , the weather will still be pretty hot and certainly not cold enough to indulge in things like knitwear and heavy coats.
I was therefore very pleased to find this cute pair of floral shorts for women  that looks like a skirt which ticks all the boxes for me.It is from the online store Zaful and I am truly impressed by the quality and craftsmanship that has gone into them. The fabric is quite thick and heavily embellished with embroidery and metal studding which is one of the key trends this season . Secondly, the pink colour is so beautiful but the black ribbon at the side means that it can easily be combined with darker items. Finally, the cut is to die for, the wrap effect and gathered high waist is so lovely and flattering there is literally nothing bad about this skort!

I have styled the shorts in a few different ways to show how versatile they actually are and especially love them with the leather jacket.

How to wear shorts for Autumn

I have a little ritual whereby I put away all my jeans in the middle of June and get them out again come September. However I love wearing shorts , so much more than skirts as I find them much more comfortable and less self conscious. I am , therefore always looking for ways to wear them in the Fall , while the weather is still hot and I still have a tan. Obviously really summery flimsy styles are not usually season appropriate but there are some styles that can work longer and harder for you combined with the right items. One of my favourite looks and which I am wearing in my post is a tailored smart pair of short or a skort ( genius invention!) combined with a shirt . It looks quite smart and breezy still thanks to the shirt but you still get to have those pins out. I also love boots with bare legs and the beginning of Autumn is pretty much the only time you can realistically get away with it!
I follow some simple rules:

  1. Keep the shorts dark : They nod to trousers and work or school wear so they are in keeping with the general vibe of the season. Alternatively go for cream or muted autumnal shades and stick to the colour scheme for the whole outfit.
  2. Go for stiff , thicker fabric : Flimsy layering is great for Summer outings, but transitioning into the new season means that fabrics imitate winter clothing albeit in the form of short. Suit fabrics, wool blends, boucle , denim and stiff silky fabrics are perfect and also texture to the outfit.
  3. Keep the top covered : Balance is everything, jumpers, sweaters, sweatshirts, shirts, blouses cardigans and blazers or even a lightweight parka over shorts look amazing. Keep the cleavage under cover !
  4. Accessorise for Fall : Ankle boots, sneakers slippers and Oxfords complement shorts perfectly. I personally would steer clear of thin heels and styles like pumps and high heel sandals.

Pick of the day. the fist buys for fall

The days are slowly getting shorter and although we are technically still in Summer, there is a general shift towards autumn and all that it entails. In terms of my wardrobe , bright colours now seem a bit past it and I am starting to veer towards darker tones that will transition me into the new season. One of the sites I always check out when I want to update my look , either at the beginning of the season or mid through, is Zaful. They have new items every day and are really good at high fashion dupes at a fraction of the price. I find their dresses  amazing and most of them are great value for money and many of my favourite dresses this Summer have been from this site and I am hoping to get some great finds for Autumn and Winter. One of the first thing I was looking for was a black long sleeve midi dress  and again I found some great items . In particular I wanted something floral because I am not quite ready to go full on dark and floral are lovely for autumn and are also a huge trend as seen on all the catwalks.

Zaful Long Sleeve Chiffon Dress here

I love the big florals on this dress and will definitely wuld wear it as well when it get colder with some nice boots and a coat or even a nice chunky cardigan coat.

Zaful Oriental Print Long Sleeve Midi dress here

This is another dress I swooned over. Oriental prints are big news and the wrap effect is extremely flattering and you could even wear it slightly undone over jeans .

What is first on your list this season?

A Dreamy Dress

For a girl that considered herself something of a minimalist with a casual style , something strange appears to have happened. Looking back at recent posts I am seeing lots of ruffles , embroidery and print and I have to say I kinda like it. There is something about a whimsical dress on a hot Summer day by the sea and I prefer these sort of dresses more for the daytime.
One of my favourite dresses at the moment is this gorgeous Off the shoulder striped dress  from Zaful. The print is beautiful and the extra billowy sleeves give it a dramatic effect that is really beautiful. Also, it is a perfect transitional dress as it gives you a bit more coverage. I'm wearing in a casual way but of course add a pair of heels and it is a stunning outfit for a more formal occasion or even an evening out or a romantic date. I wore it on my date with the Skoufdog and as you can see we are perfectly matching!

The thing I love is that it has an almost old film star appeal, the sort of thing an Italian starlet might have worn back in the day.

The dress is actually under $20 dollars at the moment so it is a great investment in a very versatle item.I got a size medium and it fits great as I wanted it quite voluminous, but you could probably size down if you wanted it a bit more fitted.
