The British hero brands

The high street is a wonderful thing that offers us the opportunity to recreate high fashion looks at very affordable prices. In fact these days , the cost of renewing your wardrobe is so low that clothing has become pretty much disposable. Although this was exciting at first and I love a bargain as much as the next the girl, I cannot help but feel that it all detracts from the value of clothing as far at what it means to the owner. We buy so much without much consideration and  discard it with same frivolity. For myself , I also like to indulge in this fast fashion, but the things I love are items I have had for ages, cost me more which meant that I had to really love them in order to part with the money. Clearly and sadly we can't all afford designer but there are some brands on the high street which bridge the gap between quick disposable fashion and out-of-reach designer, and having worked with designer clothing I can assure you that in terms of quality they are not lackingin comparison. I am sure there are more but I have singled out two British  high street HEROS...who always save the day!

The Heros

After working in the UK retail industry for many years I have come to realise that besides the quirky unconventional dishevelled British girl that usually comes to mind when thinking about the UK fashion scene, there is another girl.No , not the English rose, although she is always there, the classic with a twist. She likes qulaity and fashion as well, but not in an obvious way.She buys things that add to her wardrobe which she sees as an investment and she wears trends in a way that is subtle but very much on point. Say hello to the Whistles girl and the Reiss girl. They both offer items that look like they cost a lot more than they do and you can be sure to be one of the best dressed. They are favorites of fashionistas everywhere, and I cherish the things I have from them as they never date. These guys have personality and that is not something you throw out easily!

Supple slippers, not just for cosy nights in.

With winter just around the corner , we are already thinking about cosy luxurious knits, soft leather , shearling and and all sorts of warm fuzzy fluffy loveliness that will keep us happy and warm.
Fotwear has a new hero that will compliment all the above , the slipper! Doesn't sound very glamorous but it is!

There are options for every budget, the aim is to try and get the best quality you can afford as the look is easy laid back luxury.

Your new jeans for the new season.

If you are anything like me you tend to stick to skinny jeans as these are by far the easiest to buy, a bit like buying leggins. However, it is getting a bit boring and luckily there are lots of new exciting styles to chose from this season. It may be daunting to step out of your comfort zone, but a good flattering pair of denim jeans will become a staple in your wardrobe and a modern style will elevate all your looks...I mean , were we not all terrified of the skinny when it came out??
I am really taken by the range of product available from French Connection. They actually have every style under the sun and qulaity is also important. It is worth spending a little more as you are sure to get your wear and then some out of a good pair of jeans.

The skinny is still around but I would suggest going for a black variation with either a print, and interesting finnish or rips to keep it up to date

One of the current trends is the crop flare and the tappered high waist.Make sure the fit is right as these are probably one of the most fashion forward shapes this season so you want to look on point!!

You can add heels or ankle boots for a smarter look.

Another new trend is the jodhpur and French Connection has some great colours in lovely fabrics. I cannot wait to pair them with some chunky oversize knits,....perfect!!

The choice is hard and no need to stick to one, just step out of the box, you won't regret it!

Which is your favorite??

Beauty Essentials

As much as I love fashion , the same cannot be said about beauty products unfortunately. In fact I am terrified of them, although I am starting to think that my fear stems more from the process of purchasing them. Even choosing shampoo sends me into a panic...I mean is my hair dry, dyed, frizzy, frazzled, normal..all the above? I hate walking into beauty departments to buy cosmetics, I always get pressured into buying the wrong thing or more than I need because I become baffled by the choice and the usually pushy sales assistant. So even though I want high end product I usually buy drugstore brands to save myself the misery of the above. However this has all changed recently since I discovered the online retailer Look Fantastic. The choice they offer is amazing, the prices are great, free postage and no overdone makeup lady breathing down my neck!

They cover all your needs  hair, make up, skincare, elctricals, body, nails, and have regular discounts and offers. These are some of the items I ordered and I will never look back!!

Are you a biker or a bomber girl?

The battle is on and it's time to choose sides ( or not) , are you going with abiker or a bomber. The choice, admittedly is a difficult one as they both have so much to offer. This season catwalks were awash with these two, although they have probably been in your wardrobe for a few seasons now. Of course that is no excuse not to invest in the new versions , as one thing is for sure , you will definitely get your wear out of these babies.

Caravan Life

Hello, so I mentioned yesterday that I was away for a week and I want to share the beautiful not so little static caravan that we stayed in. It is so nice to be in nature , completely detached and next to the sea. Our little boy spent the days chasing insects, watering the garden and in the evening we had lovely fresh salad straight from the land!!Priceless!!

Shorts from Zara, top from Mango and flip flops Nike.

We enjoyed being farmers for a week and cannot wait to go back!!

A Greek Baptism

Hello, we have been away for a week so that is why there haven't been any new posts for a few days. Bizzarely enough , we spent the days in a place with no internet connection and I cannot describe how good it felt to be able to disconnect for a while. It makes you aware of how much of your time is consumed staring at screens of one form or another. Anyway on Monday we went to a beautiful baptism for a gorgeous little boy and it was a chance to sort of get dressed up. It was a day time ceremony with a meal following the church, and it was also a very warm day. I find it hard to decide what to wear in these circumstances because comfort is also important. A few weeks ago I wore a fitted dress to another such event and literally was about to faint so I was weary of repeating the mistake. Hence , I opted for a maxi floaty skirt and a cropped linen mix top with flat sandals. I have top say I do not usually wear long skirts and dresses but I loved this skirt especially the fact that it had pockets and the length wasm just long enough so I didn't have to worry about stepping on it.

Skirt and to Zara, Bag Marc Jacobs, Shoes Famous Shoes.
Andreas wears shorts from Zara, T-shirt Marks and Spencers. shoes Camper.

It was a lovely day with friends and family and made me think about how quickly my little man has grown!
